The Young and the Restless Favorite Doug Davidson Celebrates His Birthday

Paul Williams has been a fan-favorite on The Young and the Restless since his debut in 1976 and to this day, fans miss his presence in Genoa City. Paul may be away, but actor Doug Davidson certainly has another reason to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Doug Davidson

This is due to the fact that he was born in Glendale, California, on October 24, 1954, making him 69 years old today! Davidson had only two acting credits before landing the part of Paul Williams (initially without a last name) in the made-for-TV thriller The Initiation of Sarah and the feature picture Fraternity Row.

When Davidson's Paul first appeared on the programme, he was a heartless Lothario who steamed up with several of the female characters, such as Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott), who would go on to become Mrs. Victor Newman.

William J. Bell, the show's creator and steward, decided to centre the story around the well-liked Paul when the show's focus shifted from its two original clans, the upper-class Brooks and the lower-class Fosters. Soon, the character was interacting with his newly created kin, which included siblings Todd Williams (Corbin Bernsen), Steven Williams (David Winn), and Patty Williams (most recently Stacy Haiduk).

Davidson was matched with several high-profile women when he was on the soap opera, which led to several popular pairings. The most notable of them was his protracted relationship with Christine "Cricket" Blair, played by Lauralee Bell.

Apart from The Young and the Restless, Doug Davidson's most well-known connections are most likely to the yearly Tournament of the Roses Parade and the CBS daytime game show The Price Is Right.

Between September 12, 1994, and January 27, 1995, he presented a syndicated version of The Price Is Right five nights a week (named The NEW Price Is Right) for four months. Davidson served as the host of the previously stated Roses Parade on television from 1998 to 2003.
